Dear Editor:
Of all the good events of this Independence Day, this one touched my heart the most. My dear 80-year-old Slavic Village friend Jerry Konopka, a Vietnam veteran, braved the dangerous heatwave to honor America by decorating the home he loves.
He greeted the morning of July 4th with outstretched arms of joy and saluted the American flag with the same heartfelt admiration and loyalty as did the teenage soldier he was 60 years ago.
A true American patriot!
