In Bedford Reservation, a July 12 Trail Challenge walk starts the day on the Forbes Woods Trailhead ravine (8-10 a.m.), July 24 brings a preschooler creek hike at Hemlock Picnic Area, and a July 25 family hike explores the Bedford woodlands from the Egbert Picnic Area.

At CanalWay Center, historical interpreter Doug Kusak leads a July 18 cart tour of the Towpath Trail from Steel Heritage Center to Canal Basin Park ($10.50, registration required), plus a July 20 easy-going bike ride to Harvard Ave. The Wild Canal Hike on July 18 looks for turtles, frogs and wildflowers along the old canal channel, and July 26 offers both a "Hike Because It's Good for You" walk and a flower-focused nature journaling session.

In Garfield Park Reservation, a July 16 Adaptive Open Paddle gives guests with disabilities the chance to practice paddling skills with trained instructors and adaptive equipment provided ($10; a prior Try-It: Adaptive Kayaking session is required).
